Madis, I really like where you are going with this. You are certainly moving Dragonfly into more modern waters with your work. Technically (CSS, tableless, etc.) as well as aesthetically (use of white space, contemporary graphics, etc.).

A few observations, if I may, not criticisms as I think your current choices are fine, just offering a contra opinion for your consideration.

While the wavy lines down the left side are possibly a bit too "trendy" for a professional site (vs. a community site like this one), that's easily changed by the user. Much easier to remove it than it would be to add it Silmapilgutus But the rest of the styling is very much on target IMHO.

I'd personally prefer the greater white space of earlier versions, but again I believe this can be easily achieved by the user: by dropping the font sizes throughout, but leaving the leading as is.

Really like how you have handled Smilies. (Would like to see inclusion of BBCode icons On/Off visual status though Silmapilgutus )

On the Header (again you probably expect users to substitute their own, although many won't), I'd like to see you consider curving the blue bar down to right of language selection to tie it into the right-side image, as it does on the left.

Appreciate the way you have the Login pop-up sync'd the with Search bar. Looks very slick in use.

I personally liked the look of those flags for the language, but they did get a little long (look at my site!). But the text pulldown selection looks so "dated." Is it possible to have a pulldown with flags in it?

The menu right at the top, I'm still trying to get comfortable with Naeratus , although I know why you are doing it that way. I think I'd try with just a narrow band above it. Thing is on FF3 it tends to get altogether to busy with the Tabs just above it. (I know that's not an issue with Opera... Silmapilgutus

And the breadcrumb (eg. Home > Forum Index > Themes) is almost same font as the menu, but stands out more, so I tried clicking on it a few times instead of the menu initially. I'd suggest either italic, or grey colour, or both, and/or a touch smaller font for the breadcrumbs.

And I'm still not sure that text icons would be better in Forums (& Photo Gallery) than all those text links strung across the top. Looks too much like 1 long string...

Finally, on the Photo Gallery This is a HUGE improvement, and I realise how much work this must have been. Personally I like your yellow/green borders on the replacement for the "film-strip" so much, I'd like to see it used throughout the Photo Gallery.

So again, ideas not criticism. Please keep up the good work. And I expect to convert - from reDesign - to reDesign2 as soon as I can. But I do wish you'd install Pro_News and build a matching template for it Naerev

Great post and ideas, layingback!
Most of them were what I have thought myself too. I'll try to answer every paragraph.

- layingback
While the wavy lines down the left side are possibly a bit too "trendy" for a professional site (vs. a community site like this one), that's easily changed by the user. Much easier to remove it than it would be to add it Silmapilgutus But the rest of the styling is very much on target IMHO.

Absolutely. Anyone who knows a bit CSS can change it by removing the background picture for #maincontainer and put the left margin back to 0. And change #footer too if wanted.

- layingback
I'd personally prefer the greater white space of earlier versions, but again I believe this can be easily achieved by the user: by dropping the font sizes throughout, but leaving the leading as is.

There's not much changed on that actually, I guess smaller header tags and their margins/paddings and the stronger background colour gives that feeling.

- layingback
Really like how you have handled Smilies. (Would like to see inclusion of BBCode icons On/Off visual status though Silmapilgutus )

In some point I just got enough of messing with those things and let them be as they stayed. The On/Off visual indication should definitely be added.
Also I would like to format the BBCode icons and smilies 4x5 table differently. They're hardcoded, though so it would have taken too much hassle.

- layingback
On the Header (again you probably expect users to substitute their own, although many won't), I'd like to see you consider curving the blue bar down to right of language selection to tie it into the right-side image, as it does on the left.

It's really simple to do now. However I kind of like the feeling that the whole site is below the right side if you see what I mean.

- layingback
Appreciate the way you have the Login pop-up sync'd the with Search bar. Looks very slick in use.

Was like that before too. Got that idea from previous version of my.opera.com (like I did some others)

- layingback
I personally liked the look of those flags for the language, but they did get a little long (look at my site!). But the text pulldown selection looks so "dated." Is it possible to have a pulldown with flags in it?

Flags aren't that good indicators for languages, specially if using English language, which is spoken in many countries. See this: www.w3.org/TR/i18n-htm....173208643

I have thought on another idea however. The world map icon (it's so wide, because it covers the whole world, so should be okay on any site :D) could be clickable and near it a box would open where there will be list of languages positioned however you want.

- layingback
The menu right at the top, I'm still trying to get comfortable with Naeratus , although I know why you are doing it that way. I think I'd try with just a narrow band above it. Thing is on FF3 it tends to get altogether to busy with the Tabs just above it. (I know that's not an issue with Opera... Silmapilgutus

I did have another idea aswell. To put the menu where the breadcrumb is and the breadcrumb on the next line as it's empty now. Maybe it stands out too much too, yes.

- layingback
And I'm still not sure that text icons would be better in Forums (& Photo Gallery) than all those text links strung across the top. Looks too much like 1 long string...

Maybe Naeratus

- layingback
Finally, on the Photo Gallery This is a HUGE improvement, and I realise how much work this must have been. Personally I like your yellow/green borders on the replacement for the "film-strip" so much, I'd like to see it used throughout the Photo Gallery.

On first it was intended to be so, but it seemed too colorful and flashy, so probably won't. Still, maybe a little more moderate version with a little shadow could be OK.

- layingback
So again, ideas not criticism. Please keep up the good work. And I expect to convert - from reDesign - to reDesign2 as soon as I can. But I do wish you'd install Pro_News and build a matching template for it Naerev

Much appreciated, as there is so little community on Dragonfly atm that it makes to wonder why to make themes, modules or anything other.
I haven't used Pro News, because I felt that I don't need it. However today I thought that it would be much better to have news comments in forums, so I probably will install Pro News soon. Good job on that one Pöial püsti

Everything is accessible in all browsers, so there's no reason for me to release anything new soon.
But as the progress of reDesign is 99% on my Projects page there probably will be something some time.

Kuri või väga hull I was just ribbin' ya. It's just a different icon file - see my post of same subject. Silmapilgutus

I agree that the colours (yellow & green) are a little "primary' Naeratus but I was really meaning that I thought that the border look with white space between was more subtle than the grey boxes, esp. with white space between them (vs 1px spacing). Perhaps all white borders, and the currently selected one in yellow, and the under-the-cursor one in green? And yellow and green moved to the more translucent (think highlighter) end of the colour range?

Plus 1 new (small) comment: Preview and Submit buttons in Forum are inconsistent as they look too like the 2nd tier buttons (e.g. Add Attachment) and not enough like the top tier ones (e.g. NewPost) in different font and dark red. A niggle of course, but that is really a reflection of the quality of the work you've done on this - It is so close to right throughout, that the smallest thing yends to stand out. Amazing attention to detail on your part.

Yes to the lack of community at DF. Sad. Seems like no new bugs and nothing to complain about = no posts Kurb Shame 'cos it really is a very nice platform. There again attempts at a community at layingback.net haven't exactly taken off, either!

OK got it.
The problem is that in Dragonfly 10 some things are changed, for example <title> tags etc are in header.html
Compare it with Dragonfly 10's default theme's header.html and make some changes in <head></head> section.
I currently don't support Dragonfly 10 so much with this theme, so there might be other problems maybe.

It's not that easy. I won't theme ForumsPro unfortunately one reason being it's not actively developed anymore.

But it's nice you're interested.

The latest CVS version is active on this site now. You can see the BBCode button active indication and light gray center blocks. Also the new language chooser.
There are some other minor things too.

Won't release it as new version yet.

Good that you are still in that area of code, 'cos I've stumbled on a small bug in Form > FAQ > BBCode. The following link index.php?name=Forums&file=faq&mode=bbcode shows the actual help text fine, but if you look at the table of contents at the top carefully, the top level entries aren't displaying. E.g. the 1st line is "What is BBCode?" - the "Introduction" line is not displaying. If you switch back to dragonfly it will appear.
